quick catch up

Oh Hai, I guess it's been awhile. Please do not take my lack of writing as a sign of disinterest in writing this blog, but I guess it's safe to say that I've been very, very busy! So lets play catch up! Since my last post I've been op-shopping, hosted a garage sale, moved house, bought a new puppy and enrolled into a school course. 


I've collected a few good things in my op-shop visits such as teapots (new passion), bags of buttons, more suitcases, teacups, more bibles, another type writer (that I sold at my garage sale) and more records! Unfortunately I don't have pictures just yet of them all but as soon as I unpack them and have them set up I'll post photos.


 My garage sale was fun as well as being very stressful. I had only one day which I felt as though I was prepared to let go of a lot of clothes, books, bric-a-brac, furniture and items of Amaya's and used that day to price all the items and have them out of their spots in order for me to make sure I'd let go of them and not regret my decisions. I'm not a crazy hoarder or anything I just have attachments to all of my possessions aha.  However, I sold most of my items I had for sale and with the left over stuff I happily donated them to charity. Yay. 




Bought a new puppy, her name is Charlotte and she's a kelpie x german short haired pointer. We bought her as not only an impulse but as a new friend for Rubi so that she'd have someone to play with and experience her new life on the farm/in the bush. And so far they've loved each minute with each other which is more than delightful to see.

Finally John and I have moved down to our mansion in the country... I say mansion because it is seriously HUGE! And it's just as beautiful as we had both imagined. I'm at ease just by the thought of being within the wildlife and natural sounds of the trees and birds and not the sounds of cars, trucks and bogans. I can see us both living happily and healthily in the country and I hope we get many visitors!

On a limb I decided I should take some action with my life and do something productive in 2012, so not only by changing my surroundings I've enrolled to undertake a Certficate IV in Business. By gaining this certificate I'll be closer to opening up my own boutique and art store and knowing more about what decisions to make and what things will help me succeed. At the same time I'm also trying to find a job somewhere to help pay the bills... I'll keep you posted on how that part goes. 

But for now I'll sign off.

a little day trip

John and I went down, down, down to St. Marys today for a little day trip which was specifically for looking at potential new houses. We looked at two and one of them was a huge yes before we even looked at it but then decided it was a big no. But the other we fell in love with! The problem we have whenever look at rentals is the "I would've done this", "I wouldn't have have painted it that colour" or "I'd like to extend that bit and turn it into..." but these houses are not ours and we must live in them as they are. Except for our current house in Launceston, everything about it is perfect... well almost. When we moved in we virtually had nothing to decorate it or style it so everything we now own was bought to match it and fit in its place perfectly, so now when we look at a  potential new houses, these items still have to fit or atleast need to have room for them.... Like our over sized couch for example. Oh well. The joys of renting, ey? 

Alongside looking at houses John helped his dear father continue the move out of his museum which has been a tiring and sad process for John, Ian (his dad) and the helpers involved. But you do what you have to (or what the real estate agent says). And I stayed in Rita's (John's mother) art gallery. I'd love to have my own art gallery one day... sigh.

i want to be beside the seaside (or 10 minutes from it)

As most of you know (just from being my friend or hearing rumour) I am indeed moving from busy Launceston to the little town of St. Marys on the the east coast of Tasmania. Although it is only 1.5 hours away from Launceston most people hate driving for longer than 10 minutes. But I guess if you really wanted to visit me and the new house you will have to take the time for the lovely drive. 

I've started to pack my boxes, bags and suitcases with most of my apartment decore, clothing, art supplies, books, dvds, cds, handbags and accessories. Funny thing about packing is that you never really know how much stuff you have until you have to try and pack into boxes, bags and suitcases. I am having a garage sale in a few weeks, but I have almost next to nothing to sell because I can't bear to part with any of my possessions. I'm not a crazy hoarder or anything I just love collecting beautiful things. 

What are some items you have that you could never part with? Do they hold any sentimental value or are of any worth or do you just like it... a lot?!

I love shopping more than anything and op-shopping just happens to be even better! Everytime I go to my local op-shop I find a little (or big) treasure or two or three or four... to take home. Of late, I've managed to score some old suitcases, bibles, a type writer, multiple clothes and my favourite... records! Heaps of different artists and bands such as Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkle, KISS, Abba, The Eagles, Wham, Culture Club and so many more... best part is they were only 25c each!
